The race is scheduled for Sunday, June 15, 2024.

Both runners and hikers of all ages can take part in this event. The hikers course stops at Pianalunga.

In the event of a postponement due to bad weather, athletes will be advised via email and on site.

ENTRIES

The maximum number of entrants is capped at 200 athletes, including both hikers and runners. The number may vary depending on the conditions on the mountain and the final decision of the race director.

Runners must present a medical certificate.

Excess entry requests will be placed on a waiting list and included in case of cancellations.

ENTRY FEES

From January 9 to March 31: €30 per person including entry and lunch

From April 1 to June 13: €40 per person including entry and lunch

THE COURSE

Monte Rosa Vertical & hiking
Distance 5 km. Vertical climb 1,150m+

The course starts in Alagna Valsesia, 1,192m, passing via the Grande Halte to Bocchetta delle Pisse, 2,396m, along the new ski slope.

The race ascends on mountain trails with demanding uphill sections but without technical difficulties. A high level of physical preparation is required, both for runners and hikers.

External aid is allowed. Accompanying the runners is forbidden.
The course will be marked with flags and tape. It is possible to return to Alagna with the cable car.

PARTICIPANTS

The race is capped at 200 entries. Runners must be in possession of a medical certificate attesting to their racing ability. Hikers are not required to provide a medical certificate.

No cut-off times are set, but athletes must reach the finish line within 3 hours of the start.
Assistance and rescue service is provided in collaboration with the National Mountain Rescue Service and the Guardia di Finanza.

EQUIPMENT

A windproof jacket is compulsory.

Athletes must wear trail running shoes and the necessary equipment for running and/or hiking. 

A water bottle or hydration pack with 1l capacity may be carried. Trail running poles are suggested.

Maximum time: 3h00

RESULTS

Overall MALE and overall FEMALE categories exist.
If the cut-off times are not met, the bib must be removed.
The time at the highest point reached will be registered in the final race results.

In case of deteriorating weather conditions during the race, the race director may decide to turn the race around. All competitors must immediately return to the finish line in Alagna. Also in this case, the results will be based on the highest point reached.

PRIZES

The total cash prize for the Monte Rosa Vertical is €1.000.

The first three men and women will be awarded: €250, €150, €100 each.
